| On April 28, 2003, the Solano County Chapter of Blacks In Government wrote a letter to Region IX officers requesting BIG to recognize Shoshana Johnson as a hero on a national level. The media gave little attention to Shoshana who was shot in both ankles on March 23, 2003, near Nasiriyah, Iraq, and rescued by U.S. Marines on April 12. 2003.
On June 6, 2003, Mr. Farrell J. Chiles, Chairman, Blacks In Government National Board of Directors, was invited by California Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-Los Angeles) to meet former POW Shoshana Johnson, Specialist, United States Army. A luncheon was given in her honor at the Jackie Robinson American Legion Hall in Los Angeles where she received seventeen (17) resolutions from local politicians. "Job well done Farrell." |
